TMC executive moots Chidambaram's suspension

CHENNAI, MARCH 21: The executive committee of the Tamil Maanila Congress (TMC) has recommended suspension of former Union finance minister P Chidambaram from the party for floating TMC Democratic Forum in protest against the TMC allying with the AIADMK for the coming elections to the Tamil Nadu Assembly.

A resolution to this effect had been passed at an emergency meeting of the party's executive which met here today, K S Alagiri, TMC Political Affairs Committee member, told newsmen.

He said some of the party members had even demanded that Chidambaram be removed from the primary membership.

The final decision on the resolution recommending Chidambaram's suspension would be taken by TMC president G K Moopanar, he said.

Outside the meeting venue, large number of partymen shouted slogans demanding Chidambaram's `removal' from the party.
