PM to undergo knee surgery at Breach Candy on Oct 10

MUMBAI, SEPT 25: Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajapayee will undergo knee replacement surgery at Breach Candy hospital in South Mumbai on October 10.

Vajpayee will reach Mumbai on October 8 and will be operated upon after two days, Union Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Pramod Mahajan told reporters here.

Vajpayee, who is likely to undergo treatment till October 18, will stay at the hospital for three days after the surgery. He will be shifted to the Raj Bhavan later, Mahajan said.

Elaborate medical and security arrangements are being planned by the hospital for its VIP patient.

A team of doctors, led by US-based orthopaedic surgeon Dr Chittaranjan Ranawat, will conduct the surgery.
