Police name Rawle, Vaidya in attack on Bhujbal's house

PRESS TRUST OF INDIA
MUMBAI, OCT 27: Former mayor Milind Vaidya and Shiv Sena MP Mohan Rawle have been named in a chargesheet filed by the police today in the case relating to the attack on the residence of Chhagan Bhujbal, the then leader of the Oppostion in the Legislative Assembly, following the firing incident at Ramabai Nagar in Ghatkopar in 1997. Police had earlier filed chargesheets against 58 others following the attack in July 1997.

Bhujbal, then with the Opposition Congress and now deputy chief minister of Maharashtra, had faced the wrath of Shiv Sainiks when he demanded the resignation of the alliance government following the Ramabai Nagar incident which claimed the lives of 12 Dalits.

Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate, K H Holambe-Patil, has issued summons to Bhujbal who has been directed to appear in court for the next hearing scheduled for November 4.
