Free power: Munde offers 3 bitter pills
Deputy Chief Minister Gopinath Munde who also holds the Energy portfolio, has said that Sena supremo Bal Thackeray's unilateral and sudden announcement of providing free power to farmers is improper and impracticable given the budgetary constraints prevailing in the State.

While the Government continues to dither over whether or not to close down loss-making public sector units (PSUs), a startling estimate by the Finance Ministry shows that the losses of these very PSUs have wiped out close to a full year's Gross National Product (GNP).
