Parties threaten stir against price rise

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE
VADODARA, Sept 1: Several local leaders belonging to different political parties have threatened to launch an agitation collectively against the alleged failure of the Bharatiya Janata Party to check inflation and spiralling prices of essential commodities in general and edible oil in particular soon.

A decision in this regard was taken following an all-party meeting held here at Sardar Bhavan on Monday evening. Co-ordinator of the meeting, Bhupendra Rathod told Express Newsline that a large number of senior leaders from Congress, Rashtriya Janata Party and trade unions participated in the meet. The leaders exhorted the workers of different parties to sink political differences, if any, and join hands to ``expose the corrupt BJP government.''

Rathod said the leaders decided to form a joint-action panel which would chalk out an agitation plan in two days. He said participants also condemned the state government's apathy, especially Civil Supplies Minister Jaspal Singh's, to check inflation and the rising prices of edible oil in State.

Senior leaders Ashwin Shah and Manubhai Patel from Congress, Dr Rajendrasinh Rathore and Hemchandra Bochare, RJP, Rajendrasinh Patel, MLA, Godhra, Motilal Kanojia and Jang Bahadur Rajput, Janata Dal and Manzur Saleri from the Socialists Party among others were present in the meeting, Rathod said, adding the leaders would again hold a meeting in two days time to decide the future course of action.
