CHANDIGARH, July 10: The Punjab and Haryana High Court has issued notice of motion to Panjab University returnable by August 4 on a petition filed by a reader of PU challenging the appointment of Dr Chandrashekhar Mukku as professor and Chairman of the Department of Computer Science and his wife Dr Bindu Anubha Bambah as professor of applied mathematics at PU.The petition filed by Charanjit Singh of the Department of Physics came up before a division bench of Justice V. K. Jhanji and Justice T. H. B. Chalapati.
The petitioner alleged that the appointments were made due to the influence exerted by R. P. Bambah, who is a former Vice Chancellor of the university. Bindu Anubha is the daughter of R. P. Bambah and Mukku is his son-in-law. It was further pleaded that C. Mukku did not possess the basic qualifications or required experience in the field of computer science and that he was appointed without even facing a duly constituted selection committee.
It was further alleged that he had no research work or publications to his credit in the field.
